Patrice A. Harris, MD, MA

President, American Medical Association

Patrice A. Harris, MD, MA, a psychiatrist from Atlanta, became the 174th president of the American Medical Association in June 2019, and the organization’s first African-American woman to hold this position. Dr. Harris has diverse experience as a private practicing physician, public health administrator, patient advocate and medical society lobbyist.

This year's keynote speaker is Patrice A. Harris, MD, MA. Dr. Harris will speak on the impact of mental health on teens, with a focus on teen moms and postpartum depression, self-medicating, and trauma informed care. The keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion of teen girls' mental health, moderated by Dr. Harris. More information on the panelist to follow.

Women in Healthcare is the Atlanta healthcare and medical community’s annual fundraiser to support the work of The Atlanta Women’s Foundation. A community conversation on critical health and wellness related topics, Women in Healthcare is open to the public. The event attracts philanthropists, professionals from the healthcare and medical community, and members of the general public. The funds raised will support AWF’s mission to lead women and girls from poverty to prosperity.
